5.2 from 8 reviews

Sweet Chili Meatballs made in a crockpot combine the tangy sweetness of grape jelly, the spicy kick of Thai sweet chili sauce, and juicy pineapple tidbits for an irresistible appetizer or party dish that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatballs

  • 48-ounce bag of fully cooked frozen homestyle meatballs

Sauce

  • 12 ounces sweet red chili sauce (Thai Kitchen recommended)
  • 20 ounces grape jelly
  • 20-ounce can of pineapple tidbits, drained

Instructions

  1. Add Meatballs and Sauce: Place the frozen meatballs into your crockpot and pour the sweet red chili sauce evenly over them.
  2. Add Grape Jelly and Pineapple: Add the grape jelly and the drained pineapple tidbits to the crockpot on top of the meatballs and chili sauce.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Stir all ingredients gently but thoroughly to ensure meatballs are coated evenly with the sauce mixture.
  4. Cook: Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 1 to 2 hours or on low for 3 to 4 hours, allowing flavors to meld and the meatballs to heat through completely.
  5. Stir Before Serving: Uncover the crockpot and stir again before serving to redistribute the sauce and pineapple bits evenly.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked frozen meatballs for convenience and even cooking.
  • Make sure pineapple tidbits are well drained to avoid excess liquid in the crockpot.
  • The grape jelly adds sweetness and helps balance the spiciness of the chili sauce.
  • Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks or over rice for a main dish.
  • Cooking times may vary slightly based on your crockpot model.
  • For a less sweet version, reduce the grape jelly by half and increase the chili sauce slightly.
