This comforting beverage features a homemade rose vanilla syrup, steamed oat milk froth, and optional rose petal garnish for an elegant and aromatic experience perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea and Infusion

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (preferably high quality)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rose petals (food grade)

Rose Vanilla Syrup

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon dried rose petals (or 2 tablespoons fresh organic rose petals)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

Milk and Garnish

  • 1/2 cup oat milk
  • 1 teaspoon rose vanilla syrup (for the tea)
  • Optional garnish: additional dried rose petals

Instructions

  1. Heat Water: Bring 3/4 cup of water to just below boiling, around 200°F (93°C), ensuring it is hot enough to extract flavors without burning the tea.
  2. Steep Tea and Rose Petals: Place the Earl Grey tea bag and 1/4 teaspoon dried rose petals into a teacup or small teapot. Pour the hot water over them to infuse the flavors.
  3. Cover and Steep: Cover the cup or teapot and let the tea and rose petals steep together for 3 to 5 minutes to develop a fragrant and balanced flavor.
  4. Strain and Sweeten: Remove the tea bag and strain the infusion into a serving mug to remove rose petals. Stir in 1 teaspoon of rose vanilla syrup to sweeten the tea.
  5. Heat and Froth Milk: Warm the oat milk until it is steaming but not boiling. Froth the oat milk using your preferred frothing method until it becomes foamy.
  6. Combine Milk and Tea: Slowly pour the frothed milk into the mug with the tea, holding back the foam with a spoon to control the pour.
  7. Add Milk Foam: Spoon the milk foam on top of the drink to create a creamy layered texture.
  8. Garnish: Optionally, sprinkle a few additional dried rose petals on top of the foam for an elegant floral finish.

Notes

  • Use food-grade dried rose petals to ensure safety and flavor quality.
  • The rose vanilla syrup can be made in advance and refrigerated for up to two weeks.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of rose vanilla syrup added to the tea.
  • Oat milk is ideal for frothing and provides a creamy texture suited for this latte, but any milk alternative or dairy milk can be used.
  • For a stronger rose flavor, increase the rose petals slightly in the syrup or tea.
  • Vanilla bean in the syrup provides a more intense natural vanilla flavor compared to extract.
