For the maple glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 12 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugars: Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the Wet Ingredients: Beat in egg and vanilla, then mix in pumpkin puree and maple syrup.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined.
  6. Scoop and Bake: Drop dough onto baking sheets and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  7. Cool the Cookies: Cool on a rack after baking.
  8. Making the Maple Glaze:
    1. Prepare the Glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    2. Glaze the Cookies: Drizzle or spread glaze over cooled cookies.

Notes

  • For best results, use pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • Adjust the glaze consistency with more milk if needed.
