Ingredients

Scale

Spice Mix:

  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Bowl Ingredients:

  • 23 medium potatoes (about 400500 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 500 grams lean beef mince
  • 12 cups shredded lettuce
  • Cheese, dairy-free or regular, sliced or shredded (approx. 100 grams)
  • Pickle slices (about 4-6 slices)

Burger Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon or yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Mix: Combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and cut the potatoes into chip shapes. Pat them dry using paper towels to remove excess moisture. Place the cut potatoes in a large mixing bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the prepared spice mix. Ensure the potatoes are evenly coated.
  3. Cook the Potatoes: Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30–40 minutes or air fry at 200°C for about 20 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  4. Cook the Beef Mince: While the potatoes are cooking, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the lean beef mince, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Once the meat browns, sprinkle the remaining half of the spice mix over it. Continue cooking until the beef is well browned, the spices are fragrant, and any excess moisture has evaporated.
  5. Make the Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix well and adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked potato chips evenly among serving bowls. Add a generous layer of shredded lettuce to each bowl. Top with the spiced cooked beef mince, then add slices or shreds of cheese and pickle slices. Drizzle the prepared burger sauce over the top. Serve immediately while warm.

  • For a gluten-free version, ensure all ingredients including ketchup and mustard are gluten-free.
  • You can substitute beef mince with turkey or plant-based mince for variation.
  • Adjust the spice levels by increasing or decreasing smoked paprika and garlic powder.
  • Air fryer times may vary depending on model; check potatoes for doneness early to prevent burning.
  • Use dairy-free cheese to keep the bowls dairy-free or vegan if using vegan mayo.
  • Leftover sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
