Ingredients

Scale

Sweet Potatoes:

  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

Sauce:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Layer the sweet potatoes: Arrange a layer of sweet potato slices in the baking dish, overlapping slightly.
  3. Make the sauce: In a saucepan, heat the cream, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper until warm.
  4. Layer and bake: Pour some of the sauce over the sweet potatoes. Repeat layers, finishing with a layer of sauce on top. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  5. Add the topping: Mix the Parmesan cheese and melted butter, then sprinkle over the potatoes. Bake uncovered for an additional 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Let it rest for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can add a pinch of nutmeg or cayenne for a flavor kick.
  • Make sure to slice the sweet potatoes uniformly for even cooking.
  • For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
