Ingredients

Scale

Ground Turkey:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup water

Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2/3 cup Thai sweet chili sauce (Trader Joe’s recommended)
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons sriracha, adjust to heat preference

Bowls / Toppings:

  • Cooked rice of your choice
  • Shredded carrots
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Diced avocado
  • Edamame

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Turkey: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the sesame oil. Add the ground turkey and break it up with a spoon as it cooks. When the turkey is fully browned and cooked through, stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, soy sauce, sriracha, honey, kosher salt, black pepper, and water. Mix thoroughly to combine and let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally to meld the flavors.
  2. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While the turkey simmers, whisk together the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, and sriracha in a small bowl until smooth and combined. Adjust the sriracha to your preferred spice level.
  3. Combine Sauce and Turkey: Just before serving, stir a couple of tablespoons of the prepared Bang Bang sauce into the cooked turkey mixture. Reserve the remaining sauce for drizzling over the assembled bowls.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Spoon the desired amount of cooked rice into each bowl. Top with a generous portion of the sauced ground turkey. Add your favorite toppings such as shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, diced avocado, and edamame to add freshness and texture.
  5. Finish with Sauce: Drizzle the reserved Bang Bang sauce over the top of the bowls for an extra creamy and spicy finish. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Adjust the heat level by modifying the amount of sriracha in both the turkey and the sauce.
  • For a lower-calorie version, substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt in the Bang Bang sauce.
  • Use brown rice or cauliflower rice to increase fiber or reduce carbs.
  • Make the Bang Bang sauce in advance and store refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • Ground chicken or pork can be used as substitutes for ground turkey.
