Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Coating:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Additional:

  • Chocolate sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Heat over medium until boiling, stirring occasionally.
  2. Form Dough: Remove from heat and add all-purpose flour at once. Stir vigorously until a ball forms and pulls away from the pan (1-2 minutes). Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add Eggs: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Pipe Dough: Fill a piping bag fitted with a large star tip with the churro dough. Pipe the dough onto the baking sheet in strips, about 4-6 inches long, leaving space between each. Trim the ends with scissors for a clean finish (optional).
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Watch closely to avoid over-baking. Let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
  7. Coat Churros: In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll each churro in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  8. Serve: Arrange churros on a serving platter. Serve warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
